It is advisable to consult a healthcare professional before using essential oils during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If determined safe, additional information can be found in the FAQ section below.
If you have a pre-existing skin condition, epilepsy, asthma, irregular blood pressure, or are currently on prescribed medications, it is recommended to seek medical advice before incorporating essential oils into your routine.
Some essential oils may be considered safe for use during pregnancy, but it's advisable to consult with your healthcare professional, especially after the first trimester (12 weeks). Before using essential oils while breastfeeding, please seek guidance from your healthcare provider.
When using essential oils, it's essential to dilute them properly. A 1% blend, which equates to 1 drop of Essential Oil per 5ml of blending oil, is recommended.
It's crucial never to apply essential oils directly to the skin or consume them, particularly during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
The following essential oils are generally considered safe after the first trimester and can help address various pregnancy-related concerns:
- Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia): Known for its anxiety-reducing properties and ability to promote relaxation and better sleep. You can use it in a blend or in an Aroma Spa Diffuser.
- Roman Chamomile (Anthemis nobilis): Chamomile can help soothe irritated or inflamed skin when used in a blend and applied topically.
- Mandarin (Citrus reticulata): Mandarin essential oil offers gentle stimulation and emotional refreshment. It's best used in an Aroma Spa Diffuser.
- Frankincense (Boswellia carterii): Effective for managing anxiety, frankincense can be used in massage or a diffuser to promote a sense of calm.
- Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens): Useful for emotional upset, geranium can be used in an Aroma Spa Diffuser or massage blend.
Please note that while these essential oils are generally considered safe, it's essential to consult with your healthcare provider before using them during pregnancy to ensure your specific circumstances are considered.
Keep bottles tightly closed, in a cool dark place out of direct sunlight and well out of reach of children.
Our expertise primarily focuses on aromatherapy for humans, but we understand that essential oils are sometimes used in households with pets. If you have specific questions or concerns related to animals, we strongly recommend reaching out to a qualified veterinary specialist or an experienced aromatherapist with expertise in animal
care.
The shelf life of essential oils is typically around one year after they have been opened. To ensure the longevity of your oils, it's recommended to store them in a cool, dark location, away from direct sunlight. Our amber bottles are designed to help preserve their quality. Exposure to heat, air, or light can significantly reduce their shelf life. It's important to note that using old oils is not advisable, as it may carry the risk of skin irritation or sensitization.
Using essential oils on or around children requires careful consideration. We do not recommend using essential oils on children under the age of 5 unless the product is specifically formulated for children.
If you intend to create your own essential oil blend for a child, follow these guidelines:
For children aged 5-12: Use no more than 2 drops of essential oil per 10ml of blending oil.
For children aged 12 and older: Use no more than 4 drops of essential oil per 10ml of blending oil.
For diffusing essential oils for children, adhere to these guidelines:
For children aged 5-12: Add a total of 4 drops.
For children aged 12 and older: Add up to 8 drops in total.
When using a diffuser, ensure its placed in a well-ventilated room, and keep essential oil products and the diffuser out of children's reach for safety.
